These rocks affect the flow of the river but they do not change the nature of the water itself. The energy flows through the river bed of our brain and body. Our thoughts are like the rocks in the river bed. These are the main elements that shape the energy into individual mind, or spirit.

  • The misnomers of "mind-body" and "mind and body".

A definition of "mind" that I often use  in my work and in developing my Self Defense Instincts, is the following:
"The Mind is a dynamic, self-organizing, creative system, capable of overcoming physical and temporal constraints.  The Mind uses and manufactures energy in order to support the self and one's surroundings, trade information, and adapt to change."

When considering this definition of mind, we can say that mind manifests equally in the body and in the brain. Because of this I believe that the terms "mind-body" or "mind and body" as used in the world, are somewhat missing the mark and tend to lead to a certain degree of misunderstanding. If you ask a Master of Martial Arts to point to their mind, usually they will point to the area of their heart, or they will point to their lower abdomen. If you ask the average person to point to their mind they will point to their head. This is why I think the terms "mind-body" and "mind and body" were developed in the world. I believe that the average person thinks of the term "mind" in relation to "thinking" or "thought". Oriental philosophy considers "mind" to be present in both the body and the brain. I say that I practice in order to calm the mind, by coordinating our thoughts and the actions of my body. Or I say that I practice in order to further empower and actualize our mind by coordinating thoughts, physical actions, and spirit.

  • The using of both physical and mental efforts.

One of the most important principles of the Internals of Self Defense is “least possible effort”. This is the use of both  physical and mental effort to achieve maximum effect.

It is a simple game of neither increasing nor decreasing the relative strength of force, which leads to using this “Secret” principle in dealing with “live” weight. “Live” weight comes from a living person and or a tool or weapon that they are wielding. “Live” weight changes directions and shifts and alters with the changes of the other person’s body and center. “Dead” force, in contrast, is what we experience when a runaway car strikes you or when we attempt to lift a chair.

  • The secret of "self protection system".

Since we were born our body was equipped with an auto protection system that is in part of our brain. The main function is to help us survive all the way to adulthood and alert us of danger coming externally or internally. In discussions of neurology and human response, it is often referred to.    It contains the cardiac, respiratory,  and vasomotor centers and deals with autonomic functions, such as breathing, heart rate and blood pressure.

Let us focus on the phrase “autonomic function” .There are a lot of things in this world that science can not explained because science does not really explain things - it just describes them.  One of the autonomic functions is the ability to protect oneself from enemy assault. You need to remain active and keep your body in a healthy state in order to both do your best in a martial arts tournament or in protecting yourself on the street.

Most people already know this, but the majority of attackers are men.   If you are attacked by a male as is most likely, you should attack the groin region that man.  Twist, stomp, kick, punch, hit or bite.  Your survival is at stake.  If you exert any sort of applied force, it will cause a great deal of pain.

An additional simple method of getting control over someone is to gouge their eye out as fast and as hard as possible. If you stab a finger into an assailant's eye socket, he won't be able to move as much since his vision will be affected. He will also be experiencing a great deal of pain.  Remember, this is not for a fight with your brother-in-law.  This is for when you are confronted with an extreme predator.

Tips # 7

An additional area to focus on when you're fighting back is the throat region. If you hit someone in the throat area, they won't be able to breathe properly and their equilibrium will be affected. This particular technique is excellent because anyone can execute it and get results.

It's very important to get some martial arts training or to learn more about self defense. To further heighten your capability to fight back, I suggest engaging in cardiovascular exercise and weight lifting.

The biggest component of self defense is to neutralize the tendency to feel fear and to fight with pure rage.   Don't be afraid if your opponent is bigger then you. Just blast through them.

If you can bite your attacker's ear do it! If you can kick him in the groin 10 times do it! If you can punch him in the throat or gouge out his eye by all means do it!
